I've been a fan of "V" for a long time, yes I'm old enough to have seen the original series air and remember it well, I even own the DVD. Needless to say I am more than a little stoked to see the series getting the updated treatment and it's looking pretty darn good.

Elizabeth Mitchell from Lost stars as a resistance fighter going up again those seemingly nice - but really evil reptilian - aliens and she kicks some major ass in doing so.

Here's the official trailer, tell me you're not a little bit excited.

Battlestar Galactica Finale Thoughts

March 25th 2009 01:12
Well it's all over for Battlestar Galactica - The Plan excluded. This post will cover a few thoughts about the finale as well as overall thoughts about the series as a whole. If you haven't seen the finale - why on earth not! - then probably best you don't read on as it will contain spoilers.

So the end came and it was astounding. I know a lot of people seem to be hung up on the non resolution for Starbuck, but I think there was only so much that could be done and the writers did it well. It never hurts to have a few niggling questions hanging.

So who cried? Come on, hands up people, it's nothing to be ashamed off. This show, the cast.. everything about it is so well done (or should that be was so well done) that you could not help but be moved by all those little things that happened in the finale. Roslin slipping away, Gaius finally doing the selfless thing or the plethora of other things on offer.

Battlestar Galactica managed to even rope in the non sci-fi audience with its gritty drama and character tales. Now if only the Emmy's would listen up and do the right thing, all would be well in the universe.

Spoilers for the recent BSG episodes, up to and including "Blood on the Scales". This season of Battlestar Galactica has been awesome thus far. Sure there are a few things that aren't sitting perfectly well, but all in all it is really rockin it! One of the big stories thus far has been the mutiny and of course the actions of one Mr Gaeta. There's really two schools of thought on this so I'm throwing it out there to gauge opinion in the Orble realm.

On the one hand Gaeta had a point, the fleet is now accepting an enemy within their fold, they're also going to be accepting enemy technology. They're giving access to the enemy who wiped out humanity and placing them and their technology on civilian vessels. Smart move Adama. Teaming up with Zarek though, bad move, though he too had some good points, that brought all manner of things into question.. when does care of the fleet enter into a military dictatorship type situation. When the military leader is in bed - literally and figuratively - with the president of humanity.. lines become blurred. The difference bring I guess... Adama isn't a terrorist or murderer.

Gaeta was a dumbass... the other side to the coin is he was a traitor with no care of forethought to those he's worked with and has attachments to. Poor Hoshi to nam but one, but also all those killed arbitrarily in Gaeta's little game. Surely taking Adama and Tigh and Lee into a room and placing his grievances on the table might have been a better start point than all guns blazing? Others who seemed to just turn included Racetrack, which is so odd and I'm still trying to come to terms with what will happen to the likes of her and Seelix.

So what do you think? Gaeta... hero or villain. The more I've pondered the more I'm thinking a little of both. Never a Gaeta fan overly, I did see his points, I just think he went about them in the worst possible way and with the worst possible partner.

Battlestar Galactica final episodes

January 13th 2009 00:25
It's only mere days away until those final Battlestar Galactica episodes air. This is a bittersweet moment, we'll get all those answers, but it will be the end of a captivating series. I've thought the final cylon was everyone from Ellen, to Felix, to Dualla (well there is the 'Dual' thing). I'm hoping it isn't Boxey, Zac or some other character that has barely appeared. Rumor has it the final five in the opera house aren't actually Tigh, Ander, Tory etc, but 5 separate beings completely... is it all a ruse?

Whatever the case I can't wait to see the final episodes, once everything is answered RDM (creator) says we'll all want to re-watch the entire series from the very beginning.. I'm lookngi forward to doing that... how about you guys?

Could Ellen Tigh be the last cylon?

December 1st 2008 02:02
Could Ellen Tigh be the final Cylon? I've had my thoughts on who that final Cylon is for some time and though Ellen Tigh was in amongst it, she was never really top of my list because I thought it odd given the whole Tigh / Caprica 6 thing. Why it would work if Ellen were the final cylon is simple... she's female.. and in fairness the final cylon - numbers wise - should be female, or the final 5 will be 4 men, one woman... which would be lame. Sure it would still be uneven with a 7 male / 5 female ratio overall, but meh!

Ellen would also fit in with that infamous Last Supper image that Ron D Moore stated did NOT show the final cylon. Assuming this to be the case, it's a cast member not pictured, which leaves only a few good choices, namely Ellen Tigh, Dualla or Zac Adama... and I will scream if it's Zac Adama, and not in a good way

How would you feel if the new Doctor Who were a woman? That's one of the many rumors circulating the Tardis at present and I'm not sure how I feel about it. On the one hand it would be great to have such a dramatic twist, on the other hand are all the Doctor Who fanboys going to cope with the idea? Lastly let's not forget the Doctor has long been known as a "Time Lord", will having a female Doctor Who mean adding a "Time Lady" into the universe?

Rumor has it hot young thing Megan Foxx is going to take on the role of Aspen Matthews, otherwise known as 'Fathom'. The character was created by comic creator Michael Turner who died earlier this year after a long battle with cancer. In a way news that Aspen Matthews may finally see the big screen is bitter sweet because Turner had himself decided it probably wasn't a great idea.

If anyone can pull off the role of the hot young marine biologist / super hero we're sure Foxx can, though she may be slightly young given the academic stylings of Aspen Matthews. Time will tell I guess.

Fringe in Oz - Why so ignored?

September 15th 2008 00:55
Fringe starts on Aussie screens in mere days (Fast Tracked by Channel 9) but it's all pretty quiet. Given the series main protagonist is Anna Torv, an Aussie actress AND the show is penned by none other than J. J. (everything I touch turns to gold) Abrams, it's odd there hasn't been a LOT more coverage of the news series both on Channel 9 and in the print media here.

I'll be watching regardless as I find Torv to be captivating and I'm looking forward to the X-Files / Alias style that Abrams has become renowned for. Now if only Channel 9 would give this show a bit more advertising, it might actually get somewhere on Australian screens.

BSG Toaster
Got me one of those Battlestar Galactica Toasters from NBC and the Sci-fi channel and in the worlds of one Larry David... it's "pretty.... pretty.... pretty good". It actually does make toast with a cylon on it, but I was more interested in it as a geeky decorative item than an actual toaster so it just sits looking all shiny and pretty.

One thing on note, there are quite a few press shots of the BSG toaster floating around the interweb (like the one used here) and it looks a sort of brushed gray, well the actual toaster has like a chrome finish, so it's very shiny and mirror like

Caprica confusing trailer

July 23rd 2008 04:40
Caprica Trailer
Caprica is confuzzling me! As was previously revealed the Daniel Graystone character was going to create a robotic version of his dead daughter. Thing is the daughter looks human in the trailer. That being the case does it not fly in the face of the history Battlestar Galactica shows?

In BSG the cylons were robotic centurions who rebelled thus causing the first cylon war. After the war - during the armistice - the cylons (now sentient) started biotechnological experiments on humans and the 12 models of cylon were crafted. However Caprica seems to suggest one Doctor (Graystone) in his grief develops the first cylon... Zoe-R ...CONFUSED
