What do you think about a female Doctor Who?
November 10th 2008 05:11
How would you feel if the new Doctor Who were a woman? That's one of the many rumors circulating the Tardis at present and I'm not sure how I feel about it. On the one hand it would be great to have such a dramatic twist, on the other hand are all the Doctor Who fanboys going to cope with the idea? Lastly let's not forget the Doctor has long been known as a "Time Lord", will having a female Doctor Who mean adding a "Time Lady" into the universe?

Here's another question. What about a black Doctor? It seems to me that the British have a better handle on race relations then we Americans do, but there have been eleven(?) Doctors, and not a single dark-skinned one in the bunch. I don't think I've ever seen a dark-skinned Time Lord in the entire series, although I've certainly missed some episodes.

As a long time fan, I love this idea, why not? The writing of the logistics of it would be interesting as to how Time Ladies come about.. and I hope it doesnt end (which it probably will) in a gay assistant? It seems to be the only way the boys will part with their male role model?
That it would change the shape of Dr Who as we know it, is an understatement, however, if the sript calls for a woman to think like a man, or a dumb blonde cliche takes place, then Im not sure I could stomache it all over again.
HOpefully some smart and witty women writers will do it justice?
An interesting concept, idea, thought and possibility here, for sure.

Dr Who has always been renowned (first and foremost I think) for changing appearances, so why not change to a female Time Lord. But not just for the sake of it, make it a good story.
Besides anyone can be a doctor - man, woman, black, white. It's not like changing SuperMAN or BatMAN...
They could change it up each series, keep it fresh.
